Prototype Tooling

Often, companies do prototype runs while developing their products. J.B. Stamping can help you by using prototype tooling (sometimes even made out of wood) for your initial production samples. As your requirements grow, J.B. Stamping can migrate to a more permanent tooling solution.

Short Run/Single Hit Tooling

Short run, single hit tooling is more economical than long run, progressive tooling. Operations are performed in seperate single station tools. Short run tooling provides a savings in the tooling dollars spent but the cost of production runs are higher because the part has to be handled and hit multiple times. For smaller orders, the savings in short run tooling usually makes sense.

Long Run/Progressive Tooling

Long run, progressive tooling utilizes multiple stations integrated into a single die to produce a part complete. Coil material and transfer mechanisms carry the part through the tooling. Long run dies require more of an investment to develop and manufacture but can save significant amounts in production runs.
